why my bicycle is faster than a hybrid-power automobile

I was just reading a little article on wired.com about hybrid-power automobiles, and it got me thinking.

It takes me about 35 minutes to ride my bike to work. I received the bike in 2003 as a gift, so I haven’t put much money into myself, just the usual maintenance items.

If I were to buy a hybrid-power automobile, it’s monthly payment, insurance, etc., would be about a week’s pay (or a quarter of my work-month). So if I drove that to work, the first quarter of every work day would be dedicated to paying for my ride to work.

See how that works out?
