This week, Eric Schofield, the manager at Bicycle Habitat on Lafayette Street in Manhattan, will be responding to readers’ questions about bicycle maintenance and repair.

“Any questions you may have ranging from the most mundane to the most esoteric we will have the answer for you,” he said.

Readers who would like to ask Mr. Schofield a question should do so in the comments box below. His first set of responses will appear on Wednesday.

Mr. Schofield has been working on bikes since he was 9, more than 30 years ago. He has seen and worked on everything from classics with rod brakes to the most high-tech, modern road and mountain bikes. In addition, he has trained and worked with some of the best techs around and at his shop, where they have more than 250 years of accumulated experience maintaining and building all types of bikes.
